Helmet of Salvation

Have you ever thought what would happen to our brain if it weren’t surrounded by the skull; the outer helmet of our mind? A single drop of ash could be enough to pollute the entire system. Even artificially, brain safety is everything. That’s why we instinctively protect it; whether we’re at war, riding a bike, or skating, helmets matter. The brain must be guarded. Our brain controls our decision-making based on the information we feed into it. But if that information becomes polluted, everything that flows from it becomes poisoned. And for us as believers, it is often the seductive whispers of the world, the subtle schemes of the enemy that drain the mind and gradually empty it of the truth rooted in the knowledge of God.

That’s where the helmet of salvation comes in. It is our divine protection against the enemy’s thoughts. It guards us from the devil’s constructed arguments that try to exalt themselves above the knowledge of God. This knowledge of God, this wisdom of protection is the Word of God. Wearing His Word daily as we go into battle gives us a higher place to stand as believers in Christ; the One who conquered death. It gives us strength to stand in truth even when the enemy whispers lies.

So let this helmet fit tight. Because once the mind is guarded by the Cross, by the knowledge of salvation; its direction is no longer at the mercy of deception.

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Ephesians 6:17 KJV
